FAQs

How long can I expect a load of water to last?

A truck load of water is around 10,000 litres (or 1/3 of a standard water tank). This lasts an average family of four about 7-10 days, unless you are a high water user.

Can I just receive a part load of water at a cheaper rate?

No sorry… the cost is in the cartage, not the water, so we only cart full loads.

I’ve run out of water and I need it now. Why do I have to wait so long for water in dry spells?

During dry spells it pays to keep a very close eye on your water levels. Most people in rural areas book their water delivery well ahead to avoid running out, make sure you’re booked in before you run out during a dry spells. Remember there is no water in the kitchen, laundry, shower and, worse still, the toilet when you’ve run out of water if you live rural.

My water smells strongly of chlorine. Why is this?

Our water is sourced from the town supply, which is chlorinated for safety. If you don’t like the smell or taste, we suggest having your water delivered before you run too low. This way, the chlorinated water will be diluted with the existing rain water in your tank.

When you rely on a clean water supply from your water tank throughout the year you need to be confident it is safe for everyday use.

It is recommended that you clean your water tanks at least annually. Regular cleaning can also help prevent blockages and ensures good water flow from your tank.

If your water becomes contaminated or is full of organic matter you'll want to take action quickly.
From minor to major contamination issues, we'll have your water tank up and running again.

Your tank can be cleaned while full (with a minimal loss of water) or empty. You can have complete confidence in our water tank cleaning services.

Our team is equipped to handle all forms of water tank cleaning and maintenance. This extends to both residential and commercial systems.

FAQs

How do I know my water tank needs cleaning?

Look into your water tank and check the clarity. If you can't see the bottom clearly it needs cleaning. If you fail to clean the sediment in your tank for a few years a large layer can build up, requiring a full empty and scrub out.

If you catch it early, only a small layer of silt will be present. We will be able to clean the tank while it’s full, so you’ll only lose a small amount of water. The best time to clean your tank is during the winter months, when you have higher levels of rainfall.

How often do I need to clean it?

It depends on your environment. If you are surrounded by large trees, which fill your spouting and tank with debris, you probably need an annual clean. If you are surrounded by open spaces, we typically suggest every two years.

Should I be worried if my water smells ‘off’ or rancid?

YES! If you notice a change in smell you will need to check your tank immediately. Perhaps you have a dead rodent in the tank. Maybe there’s decaying foliage. This usually happens after a sudden downpour during dry spells. The stagnant water sits in the underground downpipes and is then washed into the water tank during heavy rain. It is advisable to flush your downpipes out on a regular basis, especially with heavy downpours during warmer months.

If you notice any of this do not drink the water and please call us to ensure your tank can be completely treated.

Tank Cleaning Options

Standard Tank Clean

Our standard tank clean involves a vacuum clean that removes the sludge and sediment from the bottom of your tank, this type of clean is recommended for tanks that have been regularly cleaned. We recommend doing a standard tank clean annually to maintain the quality of your water.

  • Vacuum clean to remove sludge & sediment from the bottom of your tank

  • Your tank will not be emptied & no tank fill required

  • This is a quick clean with minimal down-time

Full Tank Clean

For a full clean we will drain your tank and vacuum and clean the inside of the tank removing all sludge and sediment, this type of clean is recommended for tanks that haven’t been cleaned regularly or if you have an issue with quality of your water.

  • Tanks are fully drained, vacuumed and clean completely

  • You will require a fresh refill of water if you don’t have an alternative water source to fill your tank.

  • This is a full clean with some down-time
